Residents injured in clash at Tiyona village

BATHINDA: A clash broke out in Tiyona village between two groups of residents this morning over some dispute regarding way in the village.

A clash broke out in Tiyona village between two groups of residents this morning over some dispute regarding way in the village.

The Bathinda Sadar police have started an investigation in the matter. Police personnel have also deployed in the village.

Both groups had put allegations against each other. Injured persons from both groups had been admitted to the local Civil Hospital.

Satnam Singh, a resident of Tiyona, who was also admitted to the hospital, said when he was returning from the fields on a tractor today, some villagers attacked him with sharp weapons and also damaged his tractor.

He tried to save himself from the miscreants and later filed a complaint at the Bathinda Sadar police station, he said.

Shinder Kaur; Gurvinder Kaur, a panchayat member of the village; Bhola Singh; and Jaswinder Kaur of the other group alleged that they had a dispute with Satnam over the way to a land in the village. A trial was also going on in a local court over the issue.

“Ten days ago, another clash had occurred in the village and we have filed a complaint with the Bathinda Sadar police, but the police had registered a case against Guradita Singh, the husband of Shinder Kaur, and no action had been taken against Satnam,” Shinder Kaur said.

She said today when Guradita when to the fields, Satnam along with unidentified accused again attacked him. Her husband had been under treatment at the Civil Hospital.

The SHO, Bathinda Sadar police, said an investigation was going on in this regard.

“We have took the statement of both parties and action will be taken against the guilty,” the SHO said.
