Residents of the Kacha Dhobiana area today raised their voice against the liquor vend opened in their area.

They submitted a memorandum to the Excise and Taxation Commissioner and demanded that the liquor vend be shifted from their area at the earliest.

They also threatened to intensify their protest if the vend was not shifted from its current site.

Varaam Singh, Gurjant Singh, Soni, Gurmeet Singh, Bunty and Rajkumar, all residents of Kacha Dhobiana, said a few days ago, a liquor vend was opened in their area and it was near to a gurdwara. They said the area residents were quite annoyed over the opening of the liquor vend.

Varaam Singh said a few days ago, he had met Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal. The minister told us to meet officials of the Excise and Taxation Department, he added.
