Accumulation of stagnant water and slush has led to numerous accidents on the Parasram road.
Residents living in the area have alleged that they had repeatedly brought this problem to the notice of Mayor Balwant Rai Nath, but to no avail.
Bhim Sen, a shopkeeper, said, “Due to waterlogged streets and roads, the business is affected. Moreover, water enters shops and increases the possibility of outbreak of vector-borne diseases.”
Kamalpreet Singh, another resident, said, “Due to the leakage of sewerage pipe, the condition becomes worse.”
Sometimes it is almost impossible to breathe due to stagnant water and leakage of sewerage pipe.
“We don’t know when the civic authorities will find a solution to the problem,” he added.
Manpreet Kaur, another city resident, said, “The civic authorities say during the monsoon, it is impossible for us to resolve the problem.”
“Moreover, to reach the office during the rains becomes a big task for us. Potholes on waterlogged roads add to the problem,” she added.
A number of residents said they would stage a protest in front of the Municipal Corporation’s office for not repairing the leaked sewerage pipes and roads.
Mayor Balwant Rai Nath, said, “I have already brought this problem to the notice of the authority concerned. Soon all problems of leaked sewerage pipes and poor condition of roads would be resolved.
