Sacrifices of armed forces remembered

BATHINDA: In order to acknowledge and commemorate the sacrifices made by armed forces personnel for protecting the sovereignty and integrity of the country, DAV College, Bathinda, celebrated Armed Forces Flag Day today on the college premises.

In order to acknowledge and commemorate the sacrifices made by armed forces personnel for protecting the sovereignty and integrity of the country, DAV College, Bathinda, celebrated Armed Forces Flag Day today on the college premises.

As many as 1,500 token flags and one car flag were given by the Deputy Commissioner to the college for distribution.

Concerted efforts were made by the NCC department to raise contributions by selling most of the flags to the college staff and students.

This fund has been collected for the welfare and rehabilitation of war widows, wards of the martyred soldiers and ex-servicemen, including the deceased.

Principal Dr Sanjeev Sharma and the vice-principal Prof Varesh Gupta appreciated the efforts of the NCC unit headed by ANO Lt Rajesh Batra.

Dr Sanjeev Sharma said the need of the hour was to generate awareness among the youth about the sacrifices made by the armed forces to save and brighten the future of the country.

He appealed to all students and the staff to paste flags on their clothes and show solidarity with the forces.
