Bathinda, January 13

Serving as a warning sign for party workers resorting to fake complaints, a SAD worker from Kangarh village of Rampura Phul has been booked, who made a ‘false’ complaint against Block Development Officer (BDO) of Bhagta.

The Bhagta police have registered a case against accused Harmel Singh under Sections 465 (punishment for forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code for making a false complaint against the official.

However, the accused is on the run. The police claimed that the search for Harmel Singh was on.

The complainant, according to the police, registered a false complaint with the Returning Officer of Rampura Phul that Bhagta BDO Parneet Kaur had started some developmental work in the constituency after the model code of conduct was imposed.

Rampura Phul RO Narinder Singh Dhaliwal said, “Complainant Harmel Singh submitted a false complaint as we investigated into the matter and found that the accused got the complaint registered in name of another person, Sandeep Singh, who denied making any complaint. Besides, Harmel forged signature of Sandeep Singh, who was shown as complainant.”

The Bhagta station house officer said, “We have registered a case against Harmel Singh in this regard.” — TNS
