Bathinda, May 1
Cabinet Minister and Maur’s MLA Janmeja Singh Sekhon today flagged off a train to Nanded Sahib from the Maur railway station under the state government’s Tirath Yatra Scheme.
Prior to this, passengers were given welcome kits and breakfast by the Railway Tourism Corporation.
Sekhon said the government was providing food, comfortable travel and free lodging-boarding facilities to pilgrims. Today, around 1,000 passengers from Maur were visiting Sri Nanded Sahib.
He also said the state government was providing free religious trips to the residents to Nanded Sahib, Ajmer, Varanasi, Katra and Salasar Dham on train and buses.
Appreciating the government’s move, he said apart from this, the government was also providing free food, telephone and staying service to the pilgrims.
Sekhon was accompanied by ADC (D) Sheena Aggarwal, SDM Anmol Singh Dhailwal, DTO Latif Ahmed and other officials.
Appreciating the efforts of the state government, a passenger said the free pilgrimage would not only enable people to have ‘darshan’ of their religious place, but would also help them take a journey of brotherhood.
