Bathinda, May 20
Residents of Bathinda and its adjoining areas heaved a sigh of relief today as the temperature fell a little after the region experienced dust storm and light rainfall on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
As per the data shared by the Agro-Met Department of the PAU’s regional centre in Bathinda, the maximum temperature fell by more than 3°C to be recorded at 38°C on Saturday as compared to Friday when the temperature was recorded at 41.8°C.
Due to a slight change in weather conditions and as a ripple effect of certain areas of the state receiving rainfall today, the humidity level also decreased, much to the respite of residents. The humidity level in the morning was recorded at 63 per cent and it fell to be recorded at 25 per cent by the evening. Wind blew at a velocity of 3.6 kmph.
The Regional Centre of the PAU predicted that all hopes of residents in the region to receive rainfall may not materialise as the region will experience overcast sky, however there are slim chances of it receiving any rainfall over the next three-four days.
As per the forecast released by the Indian Meteorological Department for the region for the next six days, the region may experience partly cloudy sky with the possibility of rain or thunderstorm of dust storm on Sunday and partly cloudy sky over the next four days. As per the forecast, the maximum temperature will be recorded at around 39°C while the minimum temperature will be recorded at around 25°C.
Though the residents woke up to a sunny morning and the sun continued to beat down harsh through the day, the weather turned pleasant by early evening when the sun hid behind a light cloud cover.
