Snatching, 5 thefts reported

BATHINDA: One case of snatching and five incidents of theft were reported from city areas in the past two days. In the first incident that took place at Paras Ram Nagar, three unidentified persons targeted a woman, who, along with her daughter, was going home when they snatched her purse, which contained cash and a mobile on August 12.

One case of snatching and five incidents of theft were reported from city areas in the past two days.

In the first incident that took place at Paras Ram Nagar, three unidentified persons targeted a woman, who, along with her daughter, was going home when they snatched her purse, which contained cash and a mobile on August 12.

As per victim Shakuntala Devi, a resident of Paras Ram Nagar, she, along with her daughter, was going home on a scooter (PB-03AK-8732) when three unidentified persons, who came on a motorcycle, hit their scooter and snatched her purse, which contained Rs 11,500, two mobiles sets, driving licence, PAN card and other important documents.

A case under Sections 379-B and 34 of the IPC has been registered against unidentified persons at the Canal Colony police station.

Investigating Officer Raghuvir Singh said the police had started investigation.

An incident of theft was reported from the Civil Lines area where thieves stole jewellery and other materials from a house.

As per victim Vijay Kumar, a resident of Pukhraj Colony, Bathinda, unidentified accused stole gold and silver jewellery, a watch and a mobile phone on the midnight of August 6. A case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC has been registered against unidentified accused in the Canal Colony police station.

In Raman, thieves attempted to steal costly material from mobile tower at Bangi Kalan village. As per local resident Gurdeep Singh’s complaint, three to four unidentified persons attempted to steal costly material from mobile tower and could not succeed because once they heard the walking movement of a person they left their bike.

Investigation officer Gurdev Singh said the police had taken the bike (PB-03S-3962) into their custody. A case under Sections 379 and 511 of the IPC and Section 25 of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, has been registered against the unidentified accused.

In another incident, three accused stole two buffaloes from Mehma Sarja village. As per a complaint lodged by Jagjeet Singh of Mehma Sarja village, Satpal Singh, a resident of Mehma Sarja, Sukhwinder Singh a resident of Killi Nihal Singh Wala village, and Fakir Singh, a resident of Lakhi Nangal village, took his two buffaloes on Mahindra Pickup on August 8. A case has been registered at the Nehianwala police station.

At Tarkhanwala village, the miscreants stole cash and other material from a shop and the Raman police booked two persons. As per a complaint lodged by Ram Kumar, a resident of Tarkhanwala village, Kala Singh and Parkash Singh stole Rs 15,000 and some goods worth Rs 3,000. Both accused have been booked under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC.

Simarjit Singh, a resident of Kotli Khurd, lodged a complaint at the Talwandi Sabo police station that someone stolen his motorcycle (PB-03X-0771) from the parking of Gurdwara Sahib. The Talwandi Sabo police recovered the motorcycle from Gurjinder Singh Nangla village and arrested him.

IO Gurjant Singh said a case under Sections 380 of the IPC had been registered against them.
