Students urged to keep surroundings clean

BATHINDA: Malwa College, Bathinda, organised a seminar on the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on its campus on Monday.

Malwa College, Bathinda, organised a seminar on the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on its campus on Monday.

Representatives of the Municipal Corporation, Bathinda; Chief Sanitary Inspector Satish Kumar; Inspector Jasvir Singh and Jaswinder Singh; and MIS expert Sonia were present at the seminar.

Speaking on the occasion, college principal Prof NK Gosain highlighted the importance of sanitation in the life of person and exhorted the students keep their surrounding clean.

Addressing the students, Sonia spoke about the initiative of the Prime Minister and its importance in the day-to-day life of a person.

She explained the details of mobile apps — MoUD and E-Nagrik. She asked the students to upload the pictures of garbage, chocked sewage, dead body of any animal, complaints regarding street lights, water supply, encroachments and illegal advertisements or hoardings on the mobile apps. She assured that the complaints would be addressed and rectified within 24 hours.

Satish Kumar said Bathinda is third in Punjab in terms of sanitary conditions. Dr Sarbajeet Kaur Dhillon, deputy director, computer science department, hoped that with the help of residents, the city can attain the first position in the state.

The stage was conducted by Dr Rupinder Kaur Sidhu. Asstt Prof Harwinder Singh, Poonam and Navjot Kaur were also present on the occasion.
