Bathinda, February 20

Despite two days having passed, the damaged pipe for main water supply has not been repaired due to which supply of water has been affected in 25 colonies.

Irked over not getting water supply for the third consecutive day, the residents today protested outside the office of Triveni Company and raised slogans against it. They also threatened that if the company did not change its style of working, then they will start a ‘company bhagao’ campaign.

It may be mentioned that on Saturday night, the water supply pipe, six inch in diameter, got damaged near the Barnala bypass. But on the third day, the pipe was repaired.

Irked over the delay in carrying out the repair, residents headed by Congress councillor Beant Singh Randhawa today staged a protest against the Triveni Company, which has been given the contract for maintenance and operation of sewerage and water supply in the city.

Randhawa said today also, areas like Aggarwal Colony, Hazura Kapura, Chandsar Basti, Teachers Colony, Mata Jivi Nagar, Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, Harpal Nagar, Ballaram Nagar and other localities remained affected and did get water supply.

According to Randhawa, Triveni Company had been showing negligence in work due to which the city is facing huge problems. He said it had been two days since the pipe had been damaged, but it has not repaired by the company yet.

He claimed that if a separate valve can be installed area-wise, then there would be no need to stop the water supply to all the areas in case a water supply pipe gets damaged.
