Three women targeted by snatchers, cops clueless

BATHINDA: Three snatching incidents have taken place in the city with the police remaining clueless about the incidents even 48 hours after these have taken place.

Three snatching incidents have taken place in the city with the police remaining clueless about the incidents even 48 hours after these have taken place. Two cases have taken place in the area under the the Civil Lines police station and one in the area under the jurisdiction of the Canal Colony police station.

In the first incident, Rani Kaur, a resident of Deep Nagar, was returning from the bank to her home yesterday. As she reached near her house, a snatcher on a black motorcycle snatched her ear-ring and fled.

Personnel from the Wardhman police post arrived on the spot and started investigations. A case has been registered against the unidentified accused at the Canal Colony police station.

In the second incident, Parveen Goyal, a resident of an area opposite the Tin Cinema told the Civil Lines police that she was going to the temple in the morning. As she reached near Alankar Cinema, a snatcher on a black motorcycle snatched her chain and fled from the site.

The Civil Lines police and the Canal Colony police have started an investigation. According to police sources, the same accused on a black motorcycle were responsible for both the incidents. Investigating Officer Sukhmander Singh said CCTV footage from the same building accused will be held soon.

In the third incident, Sangeeta Sharma, a resident of Bhikhi of Mansa district, told the police that she was near Guru Kashi School when unidentified snatcher on a black motorcycle snatched her purse which contained two mobile phones and an ear-ring.

A case has been registered against unidentified accused under sections of 379-B of the IPC.

SHO Kulwinder Singh of the Canal Colony police station said the police had got some clue and the accused will soon be held.
