Two injured in late night firing at Partap Nagar

Bathinda, June 20

A clash took place last night around 11 pm at Partap Nagar between two groups in which one group resorted to firing.

A person was seriously injured and referred to DMCH, Ludhiana, while another has been admitted to the Civil Hospital, Bathinda.

Kulwinder Singh, SHO at the Canal Colony police station, said Vishwavnath, a resident of Partap Nagar, with his friend Yashpal alias Monu, a resident of Surakhpeer road area, was going for dinner last night near Partap Nagar.

When they reached street number one, Vishwanath received a call. Thereafter, five persons reached the spot and there was a clash between them.

One of them opened firing on the duo. Two shots hit Vishwanath while one hit Yashpal. The five escaped from the spot after that.

A case has been registered against five unidentified persons under Section 307 of the IPC and under the Arms Act at the Canal Colony police station. The police have started investigation into the case.

SHO Kulwinder Singh said, “We have registered a case against unidentified persons on the basis of the statement of Yashpal. Vishwanath is not in a position to give any statement.” — TNS
