Two killed, 2 hurt as trucks collide on Dabwali road

Bathinda, February 17

Two trucks collided with each other near Pathrala village on the Dabwali road this morning around 8 am, killing a driver and cleaner of one of the trucks.

Policemen said the driver and cleaner of the truck coming to Bathinda from Dabwali were killed while two persons, including the driver of the truck on way to Dabwali, got seriously injured.

The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained while the injured have been identified as Harjeet Singh and Sukhdarshan Singh, both residents of Malla village in Faridkot.

The truck, which was on way to Dabwali from Bathinda was loaded with plyboards, the second one coming from Dabwali side was loaded with empty drums.

Onlookers said the cause of accident appeared to be high speed. The accident happened at a slight turn of the road.

The collision was so severe that both vehicles were completely damaged.

Volunteers of an NGO also arrived there to help the accident victims.

Police officials from the Sangat Mandi police station said the cell phones of the deceased were completely damaged due to which there was difficulty in identifying them.

The two injured people are undergoing treatment at the Bathinda Civil Hospital.

Police officials said a case in this regard was being registered.

Another life lost in mishap

In another road accident, Sukhmandar Singh of Dhurkot village complained that he, along with his brother-in-law, was coming towards Amargarh village when a high speed canter hit their car.

The accident, he said, led to the death of his brother-in-law, Mandeep Singh.

The accident occurred near Bhokra village. Police officials at the Nehianwala police station said a case under Section 304-A of the IPC had been registered against the accused driver identified as Dharam Singh of Bhokra village.

No arrest has been made so far. The police are investigating the matter.
