Water supply hit as pipe damaged

BATHINDA: The main water pipeline got damaged near Barnala by-pass road adjacent to Dr Kishori Ram Hospital in the city due to which water supply in more than 12 colonies got affected.

The main water pipeline got damaged near Barnala by-pass road adjacent to Dr Kishori Ram Hospital in the city due to which water supply in more than 12 colonies got affected.

After getting information regarding leakage in the main pipe, the Water Supply and Sanitation Department stopped the supply of water.

Till evening, the repair work was not started. Water in affected areas was supplied through water tankers.

Late last evening, the six inch pipe got damaged. Water supply in Aggarwal Colony, Sarabha Nagar, Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, Harpal Nagar, Hazura Kapura Colony, Kamla Nehru Colony, Chandsar Basti, Jiwi Nagar, Teacher Colony, North Estate and other areas has been affected.

Senior deputy mayor Tarsem Goyal said it was a serious concern and it should be technically ascertained why pipes tend to leak often.

“We will surely look into the matter and reach a conclusion. We will take remedial steps to resolve this issue,” he said. — TNS
