Bathinda, June 15

The unbearable stench emanating from five different places in Bhikhi will soon become a thing of the past as these places are being converted into parks under the Tandarust Mission launched by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

Mansa Deputy Commissioner Balwinder Dhaliwal visited these places on Friday after which he said these were being using by residents for open defecation for a long time.

Despite warning and stringent action, people from nearby localities continued to come to these places to attend nature’s call, turning these places into eyesores.

The DC said the administration was concerned over the misuse of these places.

“We have already received a grant of Rs 20 lakh to turn these places into parks and the work has started,” the DC added.

He said now, the administration would leave no stone unturned to convert these places into a place where residents would like to go with families during morning and evening hours.

He pointed out that five public toilets would be constructed at different places which would be surrounded by lush green grass and flowers.
