CHANDIGARH: To check preparedness and create awareness among library readers during the ongoing Fire Safety Week, a fire mock drill was conducted at AC Joshi Library in Panjab University here on Thursday.

Chandigarh, April 19

To check preparedness and create awareness among library readers during the ongoing Fire Safety Week, a fire mock drill was conducted at AC Joshi Library in Panjab University here on Thursday.

The drill was in co-ordination with the Sector 11 Fire Station. Approximately 1,000 readers and staff of library were evacuated from building in around four minutes successfully.

The Fire Station Officer gave the demonstration of fire extinguishers. A fire tender was also pressed in service. He also talked about fire safety to students and staff at AC Joshi Library.

The Security Office of Panjab University and personnel of the Chandigarh Police assisted the staff in the mock drill. —TNS
