Mohali: A daily-wage labourer filed a complaint with the police after her 10-year-old boy went missing on December 9. The victim has been identified as Vipul Kumar. The complainant, Pushpa Kumar (40), said her son Vipul had gone to a park in Sector 68 to play with his friends on December 9, but did not return home. Rajiv Kumar, SHO, Phase VIII police station, said, "A case has been registered under Section 365 of the IPC and we are investigating the matter.” TNS
Youth electrocuted
Dera Bassi: In a freak incident, a man in his mid-20s and a cow was electrocuted after reportedly coming in contact with broken live electricity wire lying near Mubarikpur road here on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Anil Kumar of Trivedi camp in Mubarikpur village. Sources said the incident happened when Anil, who had gone to get his money from a contractor. The broken live wire was reportedly lying near the open space and the victim stepped onto it. The victim's right foot was burnt due to shock. In the incident, a cow also came in contact with the broken wire and its leg was burnt. The victim's family blamed the PSPCL authorities for the negligence on their part. Sources said the incident came to light when a Powercom team was checking some fault in the 11kv feeder line. OC
ATM theft case: Police clueless
Dera Bassi: Two days after Rs 9 lakh went missing from a bank ATM here at Mubarikpur village on Sunday noon, the police were yet to make any headway in the case. The police on Monday registered a case on the complaint of Vivan Singha, a resident of Chandigarh who works with AGS cash service agency. The complainant said he was assigned to deposit the money in the bank ATM on Saturday. He alleged that around 3.30 pm, his team refilled Rs 9 lakh in the bank ATM. However, the next day, he got a call from someone that the lock of the ATM was found broken and the cash was missing from it. A case has been registered against unidentified person. Purushottam Singh Bal, DSP, Dera Bassi, said, "We are questioning the security guard and bank staff and are also probing the possibility of an insider's role." OC
Man reports fake FB profile
Mohali: A man approached the Cyber Cell, Mohali, regarding his fake profile on social media on Tuesday. Harvinder Singh, a teacher from Malerkotla, in his complaint said an unknown person had created a fake Facebook profile with the name “Harpreet Kaur”, but used his picture as profile photo. Singh said the miscreant had cropped the picture, adding his wife's picture and another woman's picture, with tiles of 'ghar wali' and 'bahar wali'. TNS
