PATIALA:The annual prize distribution function was held at Thapar University in which university director Dr Prakash Gopalan distributed medals and prizes among students who have shown excellent performance in academics during the previous year.

Patiala, October 13

The annual prize distribution function was held at Thapar University in which university director Dr Prakash Gopalan distributed medals and prizes among students who have shown excellent performance in academics during the previous year.

In all, 163 students received medals and prizes that include 95 boys and 68 girls. As many as 67 students won medals in 2016-17 and of these, 35 medals were won by boys and the remaining by girls.

Ranveer Singh, a first year BE (Computer Engineering) student of the university, became the first recipient of the IM Thapar scholarship. The scholarship is an effort of the KCT Group Trust, which is a subsidiary of Karam Chand Thapar and Brothers Limited, and will be awarded every year to a student pursuing engineering at the university.

Speaking during the award ceremony, VK Arora, chief mentor, Karam Chand Thapar and Brothers Limited, congratulated the boy on his achievement and exhorted him to do well in the future.

He commended the university for supporting meritorious and needy students in pursuance of their academic career and extended his full support to the institution.— OC
