200 athletes train under Mission Tandarust Punjab

MOHALI:More than 200 athletes from disciplines like handball, badminton, athletics, swimming, weightlifting and TT are being trained at a summer camp organised under the Mission Tandarust Punjab at here.



Mohali, June 18

More than 200 athletes from disciplines like handball, badminton, athletics, swimming, weightlifting and TT are being trained at a summer camp organised under the Mission Tandarust Punjab at here. 

The handball camp for boys and girls is being run by the Sports Department at Gian Jyoti Public School, Phase 2, and Government Model Senior Secondary School, said District Sports Officer Manohar Singh.

During the camp, participants are provided diet worth Rs 100 per day, which includes bananas, milk, almonds, etc…, the officer said, adding that the camp would continue till June 30. 

Coach Rakesh Sharma said the coaching centre for handball was started in 2016 and 22 girls and 30 boys were attending the ongoing camp. — TNS
