CHANDIGARH: As many as 200 graduate and post-graduate students were conferred with degrees during the 50th annual convocation and prize distribution function of Government Home Science College, Sector 10, here, on Tuesday.

Chandigarh, April 17

As many as 200 graduate and post-graduate students were conferred with degrees during the 50th annual convocation and prize distribution function of Government Home Science College, Sector 10, here, on Tuesday.

BL Sharma, Education Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, was the chief guest and RK Popli, Director, Higher Education, UT, was the guest of honour.

In addition, prizes were awarded for a number of co-curricular activities held during the academic session 2017-18. Geetanjli Gupta from BSc (HSc) 6th semester was awarded the best all round student of the year, Nandita from BSc (HDFR) 6th semester and Shilpa of BSc (FD) 6th semester won Dr Devi’s award for being the most compassionate and helping student of the college.

Sharma congratulated the graduates and post-graduates in his convocation address and stressed that research and education should complement each other to push the frontiers of knowledge.

Earlier, while presenting the college annual report, college principal Prof Sudha Katyal shared the illustrious achievements of students in the academics as well as other co-curricular activities. The third edition of the college newsletter depicting the progress made by the college during the session 2017-18 was also released.
