39.69% unable to clear Class XII in Panchkula

PANCHKULA: The results of Class XII exams, which were declared by the Haryana School Education Board today, witnessed a poor pass percentage of 60.31 in Panchkula.

The results of Class XII exams, which were declared by the Haryana School Education Board today, witnessed a poor pass percentage of 60.31 in Panchkula.

This year’s pass percentage is just a shade better than 59 per cent recorded in 2016.

Out of the total 2,524 students, who appeared in the board exams in Panchkula district, only 1,522 students passed out. 39.69 per cent students were unable to clear class XII exams.

In the results, it was the girls who outperformed boys. All three top positions were bagged by the girls. The pass percentage of girls was 71.25 whereas pass percentage of boys was 49.28.

In arts stream, Kulwinder Kaur of Government Senior Secondary School, Karanpur, secured first position with 462 marks, Rekha of Government Senior Secondary School, Raipur Rani, secured second position with 442 marks and Archna of Government Senior Secondary School, Kot, secured third position with 439 marks .

Similarly, in the science stream, Monika of Government Senior Secondary School, Raipur Rani, topped with 463 marks, Aanchal Sharma of Government Senior Secondary School, Morni, secured second position with 446 marks and Tanvi Sharma of Government Senior Secondary School, Nanakpur, secured third position with 444 marks.

Meanwhile, in commerce stream, Sheetal and Shashina of Jainendra Gurukul Senior Secondary School, Panchkula, secured first and second position with 469 and 442 marks, respectively. Sandeep Kaur of Government Senior Secondary School, Basola, secured third position with 439 marks.

Poor results raise a question mark

The poor results have also raised questions on the performance of school teachers as well.  A senior official of the Panchkula Administration said a report in this regard would be compiled soon.
