The UT police have booked four persons for allegedly kidnapping a 50-year-old hotelier and robbing him of his SUV at gunpoint.
Sources said victim Mohammed Kalam, alias Alam, who runs a hotel in Sector 45, Burail, was allegedly kidnapped and robbed of his SUV at gunpoint by four men, who were demanding Rs 2 lakh from him.
The police said the incident took place on December 8 in Sector 42, but the victim lodged a complaint regarding this today.
Alam named four persons - Kali Shooter, Prince, Aslam and Moni - in his complaint.
Sources said the complainant reported that he was at his hotel in Burail. He got a call from Prince, who threatened the victim and asked him to visit Sector 42. The victim reached there in his SUV.
The sources said four persons entered the victim’s SUV and threatened him with a gun. While the victim was thrashed, one of the assailants kept driving around. The accused were demanding Rs 2 lakh from him. After around 45 minutes, the victim was dropped near the Hockey Stadium in Sector 42.
The sources said the kidnappers were demanding protection money from the hotelier, who has a tainted past.
Acting on the complaint, a case of kidnapping, extortion, assault and under various other charges has been registered.
The police said two of the accused, who were named by Alam in the FIR, were known to him.
