CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Vigyan Parishad, which is a chapter of the National Academy of Sciences, India, and the Department of Mathematics, Panjab University (PU), arranged a lecture on ‘Shadows of Science and Vigyan’ here on Thursday.

Chandigarh, June 14

The Chandigarh Vigyan Parishad, which is a chapter of the National Academy of Sciences, India, and the Department of Mathematics, Panjab University (PU), arranged a lecture on ‘Shadows of Science and Vigyan’ here on Thursday.

The lecture was delivered by Prof Satish Batnagar, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, USA.

Bhatnagar did his MA in Mathematics in 1961 from the Mathematics Department, PU. He emphasised that science was based on experimentation and required similar results in identical situations.

He said science started with the Newton’s Principles of Mechanics, whereas ‘Vedas’ were said to be the original source of ‘Vigyan’. Prof Gurmeet Kaur chaired the lecture.

On the behalf of organisers, Prof IBS Passi presented a memento to the speaker.

The lecture was attended by more than 70 teachers and students.
