As many as 9,754 vehicles were checked during a special drive by the Chandigarh police on Monday Night.
The police issued 191 challans and impounded 28 vehicles. A total of 68 checkposts were erected in parts of the city from 10 pm to 2 am.
As many as 560 police personnel, including six DSPs, 16 SHOs and 10 Inspectors were part of the drive. Twelve PCR vehicles and 10 Cheetah motorcycles were deployed at the checkposts. A special search was carried out at various places, including the ISBTs of Sectors 17 and 43, railway station and busy markets.
