Chandigarh, June 12

In a first, the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) will telecast live the draw of lots to be conducted for the allotment of 753 freehold residential plots at the most sought-after IT City in Mohali on Thursday. The draw will be held at PUDA Bhawan in Sector 62 at 10 am.

For this, GMADA will create a page on Facebook, a link of which will be hosted on Youtube as well. Besides, through software, a bar code will be rendered on the draw slip on which the credentials of the allottee will be printed and displayed on the LED screens installed at the venue for information of the applicants attending the draw. Introduction of the bar coding will expedite the process of data entry during the draw, a top officer said, on Tuesday.

The live streaming of the draw has been planned for the convenience of those applicants who will not be able to present to witness the draw, the officer said.

“Latest technology is being put to use to the maximum level to ensure transparency in the delivery of various services,” the officer added.

Ruling out the allotment chance of general category applicants, the women and senior citizens will grab 736 of the total 753 plots. However, only 17 general category applicants will be able to get lucky for allotment of plots measuring 400 square yards as there are only 45 women and senior citizen applicants under this category. For 62 plots of 400 square yards, there are a total of 210 applicants, including women and senior citizens.

Under the preferential allotment policy introduced for the first time in the state, the senior citizens and the women who are residents of Punjab for the last five years will be given preference in the allotment.

Applications and sizes of plots

  • Of the total 16,274 applicants, 3,538 were women and 1,632 are senior citizens.
  • There are a total of 200 plots of 100 square yards, 100 each of 150 and 200 square yards, 129 of 300 square yards, 62 of 400 square yards and 162 plots on offer measuring 500 square yards.
