The splendour of traditional music of seven states came alive as ten young prodigious female singers and dancers presented a bonanza of folk and ritual songs, ‘Lasya Wow Womania’, at Tagore Theatre here on Saturday.
The musical treat organised by the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, and the Ankit Dhariwal Memorial Trust presented popular folk songs of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, UP, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab, under the direction of veteran folkdance maestro Sunita Dhariwal with an apt musical score by Dr Arun Kant.
The scintillating guest performance came from Haryana bureaucrat Ranju Parsad (IRS officer).
Seven women social workers and artistes were honoured by chief guest SS Parsad (IAS), Home Secretary, Haryana, city Mayor Devesh Maudgil, IAS officer Mukul Kumar and IAS officer SK Monga (retd).
