Patiala, June 23
Annoyed over the attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha yesterday, workers of AAP, led by senior leader Dr Balbir Singh, staged a protest outside the Mini-Secretariat here today.
The protesters also burnt an effigy of Punjab Speaker Rana KP Singh and Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for allegedly orchestrating physical assault on AAP MLAs through marshals.
Dr Balbir said it was not only the murder of democracy but also the most brutal attack on the Opposition by the Congress government in the constitutional and democratic history of the country.
“Punjab Police personnel involved in the matter are not less than the British era, while the Chief Minister is definitely more brutal than the British viceroy,” he said.
The AAP workers also submitted a memorandum to the President of India through Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit, demanding removal of the Punjab Speaker.
