In yet another daylight robbery, two car-borne robbers fired a gunshot on the arm of an accountant of a company in the Industrial Area, Phase II, and took away Rs 2 lakh. The injured accountant, Rajiv Tiwari, is undergoing treatment at Alchemist Hospital in Sector 21.
Tiwari, working as an accountant with Shreem Electrical Company, Plot No. 7, Industrial Area, Phase II, Panchkula, returned to the factory around 1.30 pm on his motorcycle after withdrawing Rs 2 lakh from a private bank in Sector 7. As soon as he parked his motorcycle inside the factory premises, two robbers, one of whom had covered his face, came in a white Alto car. The masked robber came out and tried to snatch the bag containing the cash from the accountant. Tiwari offered resistance following which the robber pulled out a pistol and fired a shot on the accountant’s arm.
Other employees rushed towards the car and one of them, Sombir, hit a windowpane of the car with his helmet. However, the robbers managed to flee with the cash.
Tiwari, who received a bullet injury on the right arm, was admitted to Alchemist Hospital.
Sombir said after hearing cries of Tiwari, he, along with other employees, rushed towards the robbers and hit the car with a helmet, but they managed to flee.
Panchkula Commissioner of Police AS Chawla, DCP Ashok Kumar and a forensic team reached the spot.
DCP Ashok Kumar said they had formed teams to nab the robbers.
Presence of mind saved accountant
Accountant Rajiv Tiwari, who was admitted to Alchemist Hospital in Sector 21, said he saw one of the robbers pull out a pistol and without wasting time bent and turned his face to the other side. The bullet hit his arm. Had he not turned around, the bulled could have hit his chest.
Cops trying to identify car number
Police officials said the white Alto car was captured in a CCTV camera installed by another company. The police have procured the footage and are trying to identify the car number.
