CHANDIGARH: Agaaz Bansal of St. Kabir School, Sector 26, amassed 5½ points to top the U-15 open category on the concluding day of the Chandigarh Chess Championship held at New Public School, Sector 18, here today.

Agaaz Bansal of St. Kabir School, Sector 26, amassed 5½ points to top the U-15 open category on the concluding day of the Chandigarh Chess Championship held at New Public School, Sector 18, here today.  

The girls’ U-15 title went to Vishruti of Bhavan Vidayala, Sector 27.  She scored a total of four points to lead the category.  

Ananya Bansal, Aanshita Jain and Mitali Saini shared the second position at three points each, while Precious Bansal scored 2½ points to claim the third spot. 

In the open category, Arnav Kushwaha of Delhi Public School, Sector 40, who also scored 5½ points finished second, followed by Aditya Malhotra of St. John’s School, Sector 26, at third position with 5 points.    

Meanwhile, Agaaz, Arnav, Aditya Malhotra of St. John’s School and Strawberry Field  School’s Anhat Singh, from the U-15 open category, and Vishruti, Ananya of St. Kabir School, Sector 26, Aanshita and Mitali, both of St. Xavier’s School, Sector 44, have been selected to represent Chandigarh at the Nationals, scheduled to be held at Gujarat from October 1 to 9.
