Excellent unbeaten knock of 85 runs by Anmol Sharma helped Modern School to beat YPS Patiala in the final to lift the 17th Dhruv Pandove memorial trophy at YPS Stadium, here on Sunday.
Modern School Delhi defeated hosts Yadavindra Public School (YPS), Patiala, by 74 runs. Batting first, after winning the toss, Modern boys scored 197 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Anmol sent the YPS bowlers on a leather hunt and scored runs across the ground. He was ably supported by Archit Bakshi, who scored a quick-fire 41 off 27 balls.
In reply, YPS skipper Fatehveer Singh with 54 runs batted well against the good bowling attack by Modern School. Captain Fatehveer fought the lone battle for the YPS.
In the end, Modern School restricted the opposition to just 123 runs. For the visitors, Ronak Singh claimed 3 for 15, Aryan Sharma took 2 for 20, while Anmol and Revant claimed a wicket each to restrict the hosts to 123 runs.
12 teams from across India had participated in this tournament which is held in the memory of a former Punjab Ranji trophy player, Dhruv Pandove, who was a former YPS student and lost his life in a road accident.
