Chandigarh, June 21

A fourth member of the gang that used to hack credit and debit cards and transfer the money to the account of their associates in the form of Bitcoins and dollars has been arrested by the cyber crime investigation cell of the UT police.

The accused has been identified as 19-year-old Sanskar Kumar, a resident of Patna, Bihar.

Police officials said Sanskar, a key member of the gang, used to purchase credit and debit card data through Bitcoins and provide it to the accused who were arrested earlier on June14.

The three accused— Ankur Sharma, Rajesh Sharma and Pawan Singh— were arrested from a hotel in Sector 35 while allegedly making live transactions. They used to hack credit and debit cards, both of Indian and foreign banks. After hacking the cards, they used to transfer the money by using vulnerable sites to their associates in the form of Bitcoins and dollars.

Police officials said the data recovered from the accused is being scrutinised and can lead to more arrests and the unravelling of a possibly big nexus.
