Another Mohali girl missing, this time from Madanpura

Two days after four minor girls went missing under mysterious circumstances from Mataur village, a 17-year-old minor girl today went missing from Madanpura village. The police said family members of the missing girl claimed that she had been abducted.

The victim’s father Dharampal said their family had moved from Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) to Madanpura six months ago.

According to the police, the victim worked as a domestic help in a Phase II locality along with her mother.

The police said around 10 am on Saturday, the victim told her mother that she was going out for some errands. When she did not return, her mother raised an alarm.

Sources said the victim was seen getting into a white car, whose registration number could not be recorded. A complaint has been given at the Phase I police station.

Meanwhile, The police are yet to make any headway in the case of four other minor girls, who went missing from Mataur village on Thursday afternoon. On the complaint of their families, the Mataur police had booked two youths, Ravi and Manpreet, for abducting the minors.

The police said they were yet to trace the suspects. Sub-Inspector Neha Sood said, “The family members of the girls said they suspected the involvement of the two youths, who allegedly abducted the girls. We are checking phone call records and trying to nab the accused.”

The missing included two 14-year-old students of a government school in Mataur while other two are domestic helps.

According to the police, the four girls were friends and stayed in close vicinity of each other in Mataur village. One of the minors had called her cousin brother late on Thursday night, saying she was far away from Mohali and would not return, abruptly disconnecting the call.

The police said the mobile number, from which the call was made, was later found switched off and efforts were on to trace its location.

Inspector Jarnail Singh, SHO, Mataur police station, could not be reached for comments, despite repeated attempts.
