Following gangster Sampat Nehra’s arrest, Naik Dinesh Kumar was leading the gang.

The police had arrested Dinesh Kumar, along with four other members of the gang, on Wednesday. However, cops failed to nab Nehra’s main aide Ankit Bhadau, who escaped from the spot in Sohana.

Ankit is stated to have involvement in the planning by Nehra while Naik Dinesh Kumar was in direct contact with Nehra. The Naik was posted in Jaipur but had been absent from duty for a while.

As per an officer of the CIA, Mohali, Dinesh had hatched the plan of abducting and murdering Varinder Kumar, a 25-year-old cab driver.

The six, including Ankit, were at the Sohana farmhouse when the CIA raided it. However, Ankit fled the scene while the other five were nabbed by the CIA staff.

Ankit has a criminal background and is an accused in a murder case registered in Abohar. He is the Rajasthan state president of the Student Organisation of Panjab University, as per his Facebook profile.

Dinesh is one of the oldest aides of Nehra, as per the police. After Lawrence Bishnoi’s arrest, Nehra took over the gang. As they operated in various parts of the country, Dinesh is said to have been in constant touch with Nehra to execute crimes where Nehra was not present.

The police said during interrogation, the accused revealed that it was the Naik who motivated them that they would successfully execute their plans. The six members had thus become active in the region and executed three crimes in a span of three days. These included a carjacking incident in Panchkula, a snatching in Sohana and an abduction and attempt to murder in Sector 71, for which they were arrested.

The six had allegedly hit Varinder Kumar’s motorcycle with their car and taken him to Sohana. They planned to kill him there but a team of CIA reached there and arrested five of them. Varinder was attacked as he was in touch with a Hoshiarpur-based girl. He was earlier threatened to stop talking to the girl.
