Assistant lineman thrashed in colony

CHANDIGARH:An assistant lineman of the Electricity Department was thrashed by two persons at Dadu Majra Colony.

An assistant lineman of the Electricity Department was thrashed by two persons at Dadu Majra Colony. The victim had gone to attend a complaint when the incident took place.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Gurjant Singh, reported that he, along with two other employees, had gone to Dadu Majra Colony to attend a complaint when two local residents, Bunty and Sanjay, stopped the government vehicle and pulled the victim out of the vehicle. The accused later thrashed the victim.

The police were informed about the incident, following a case under Sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at the Maloya police station. The matter is under investigation.
