Auto driver among 3 held for robbery

Chandigarh, June 23

Three persons, including an auto driver, were arrested by the Chandigarh Police for robbing a passenger, who later chased them in another auto and managed to catch them with the help of the police. 

Sources said victim Munish (24), who worked in Sector 22, had hired an auto from Sector 22 to reach his home in Naya Gaon in the wee hours on Friday. 

There were two persons already sitting in the auto. Sources said the auto driver took a different route following which the victim got suspicious and asked him to immediately drop him. All three accused then threatened him and snatched his purse near Matka Chowk and sped away. The victim then hired another auto and followed them. In the meanwhile, he saw a PCR vehicle parked on the way and informed them following which the accused were nabbed near the Sector 29 market. 

The accused have been identified as Vicky, Sewa Singh and Lovely Sharma.
