The Government Ayurvedic College authorities are in the soup again as the two-member team of experts held a surprise visit on the college campus today and pointed out various anomalies in the functioning of the institute.

The experts — Dr Vijayant Bhardwaj and Dr SD Sharma — from Guru Ravidas Ayurvedic University, Hoshiarpur, visited the college to review the facilities on the campus before taking a final call over whether the college will continue to be affiliated to Guru Ravidas University or not.

Earlier, the college was affiliated to the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, from 1999-2011. Now, the college has been affiliated to the Ayurvedic University since 2011.

The team expressed annoyance over staff storage and defunct hospital and medical care facilities. Dr Bhardwaj said once a prestigious institute had fallen prey to the apathy of the state government. He said the college was mainly in mess due to staff storage as they were having only 24 faculty members against a total of 30. Though there are six more teachers, they are ineligible as per the Central Council of Indian Medicine.
