UT Administrator and Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore today visited Jandpur and Kajauli water works in Mohali to review the progress of the city additional water supply project.

He was accompanied by Mayor Davesh Moudgil, Adviser Parimal Rai and MC Commissioner Jitender Yadav.

Moudgil said the Administrator’s visit would help the civic body in completing the project in time, adding that they were hopeful of bringing additional water supply to the city by April 30.

The Governor visited the project site in Jandpur where GMADAis carrying out the work on laying a pipeline from Kajauli.

More than 90 per cent work of bringing additional 40 million gallons per day (MGD) of water through a new pipeline from Kajauli to the Sector 39 waterworks is completed in the area falling in Chandigarh. The work of laying a pipeline beneath the railway crossing is yet to be completed in the Punjab area.

The UT Administration had released Rs 98 crore to the Punjab Government for the execution of Phase V and VI of the water pipeline project from the Bhakra mainline at Kajauli in 2015.
