Mohali, May 21

Residents of Behlolpur village, panches and sarpanches of nearby villages wrote to the Punjab Education Minister to stop the transfer of the headmistress of Government High School there.

They requested the minister to stop the transfer of headmistress Alka Mahajan, claiming that she was doing very well in the school, which had seen a lot of improvement in the recent past. It is to be noted that the residents had locked the school under protest yesterday when they got news of the transfer of Mahajan. Even students had joined in the protest.

“The protest would continue if the headmistress’ the transfer order is not taken back. We will not let the school function," said the residents in unison. It is to be noted that the Education Minister has already ordered the District Education Officer to visit the school and submit a report in this connection.
