CHANDIGARH: Bhanu Arora claimed a fifer as St. Kabir School, Sector 26, defeated Delhi Public School, Sector 40, by 41 runs in the opening match of Brother MC Cann Under-14 Cricket Tournament held here today.

Bhanu Arora claimed a fifer as St. Kabir School, Sector 26, defeated Delhi Public School, Sector 40, by 41 runs in the opening match of Brother MC Cann Under-14 Cricket Tournament held here today. Batting first, St. Kabir could manage 138/4 in 20 overs, with Tanmaya playing an unbeaten knock of 63 runs. 

Dushyant contributed 37 runs to the total, while Ujjwal chipped in 19 runs. 

In reply, Delhi Public School were bowled out for 97 runs in 19.4 overs as Bhanu Arora claimed 5/12 for St. Kabir. Arjun bagged two wickets. 

Vashav Pratap (17) was the top scorer for Delhi Public School, while Arnav contributed 15 runs to the chase.

AKSIPS beat DAV 

In the second match of the day, AKSIPS, Sector 45, beat Chaman Lal DAV School, Sector 11, Panchkula, by 88 runs. 

Batting first, AKSIPS scored 158/6 in 20 overs with the help of 79-run knock by Arpit.  Ayushman scored 20 runs, while for DAV School, Raman Kataria claimed three wickets. 

In reply, DAV boys could muster only 70 runs in 14 overs. Ayushman was the pick of the bowers for AKSIPS, claiming 3/14. Arpit and Gaurav claimed two wickets each.

For the batting side, Shivam Joshi scored 16 runs, while Kataria managed 12 runs. 

St. John’s log 8-wkt win 

Meanwhile, in the opening match of the U-17 category, hosts St. John’s High School, Sector 26, beat Delhi Public School by eight wickets. 

Opting to bat, Delhi Public School managed a modest 112/8 in 20 overs with Aagmandeep scoring an unbeaten 31. Sahil and Shrey claimed two wickets each for St. John’s school. 

In reply, St. John’s achieved the target in 18 overs with eight wickets in hand. Skipper Angad Bhatia scored an unbeaten 50, while Paritosh contributed 30 runs to the chase. Yuvraj claimed one wicket for Delhi Public School.

Saupin’s boys beat Baptist 

In the second match, Saupin’s School, Sector 32, beat Chandigarh Baptist School, Sector 45, by seven wickets. 

Batting first, Baptist School were bowled out for 114 runs in 19 overs even as Ritik Shukla scored a defiant 58 runs to push the total past 100-run mark. 

For the bowling side, Puransh claimed four wickets.

In reply, Saupin’s School reached home in 17 overs with seven wickets to spare. Sukhman scored an unbeaten 49, while Sachit hit 32 runs for the side.
