Bike-borne robbers take away car in Panchkula

PANCHKULA: A Swift car was taken away at gunpoint by three armed robbers near the road separating Sectors 27 and 28 here on Thursday night.

A Swift car was taken away at gunpoint by three armed robbers near the road separating Sectors 27 and 28 here on Thursday night.

This is the second incident of gunpoint carjacking in Panchkula in the past week. On the night of June 9, a Hyundai Verna car was robbed at Sector 21 here.

In the latest incident, Ramakesh, 38, a resident Rampur Jangi village in Pinjore and a contractor by profession, was on his way home when he was robbed.

In his complaint to the police, Ramakesh stated that at around 9.30 pm on Thursday, he had left his other house in Ambala in his white Maruti Swift (HR-07-V-2646) for Pinjore where he lives.

Ramakesh said he had reached near the army flats in Sector 27 on the road alongside the Ghaggar at around 11.30 pm when he stopped the car to answer nature’s call.

He added that suddenly, three motorcycle-borne men stopped the bike in front of his car. They pulled him out and pointed their pistols at him. One of the accused was wearing a helmet while the other two had their faces covered. They snatched his car keys and escaped from the spot. Two of them fled in his car while the other followed them on the motorcycle, he said.

Acting on the complaint, a case under Section 392 (robbery) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Arms Act has been registered at the Chandimandir police station.

Victim’s mobile phone found near dumping ground 

The victim, Ramakesh, also lost his mobile phone, a wallet carrying Rs 1,000 in cash, four ATM cards, driving licence, PAN card and other documents besides bank passbooks and car documents lying in the vehicle. The robbers threw the victim’s mobile phone near the dumping ground.

Robbers spoke in Haryanvi

Ramakesh, the victim, told the police that the robbers were talking to each other in Haryanvi language and even threatened to kill him.
