To showcase the history of the RSS and the BJP, its Chandigarh unit has got a hi-tech library where books on its leaders and those written by them have found a prominent space at the renovated party office.

Named as Nanaji Deshmukh Library and e-library, it houses books written by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, veteran leader LK Advani and Prime Minster Narendra Modi along with Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee and stalwart leader Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya among other prominent others. They have a separate space in the rack where the books have been kept.

Abhishek Sharma, head of e-library, said: “The purpose of this library is to connect people and party workers with Indian culture, religions, history and literature. There are books on Geeta, Mahabharata, Ramayana, Guru Granth Sahib and Quran as well.”

It also has books on Congress party’s history, Indian constitution, GK and prominent Indian personalities, Mahatma Gandhi, BR Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Vir Savarkar, Abdul Kalam, among others. “We are trying to have all rare books of history from 1935 to till date. We will keep updating them from time to time,” added Vinod K Bector, committee member of the library.

City BJP president Sanjay Tandon informed, “There will be 1,500-2,000 books along with an e-library. It will be open for all and anybody who has interest in books may visit to gain knowledge.”

The BJP workers are excited about the library which will be inaugurated by their party president Amit Shah on Saturday. “It will give encouragement and boost to the workers. Besides, city residents will also get to read rare and unique books on Indian culture and history,” said a party worker while setting up books in the library. The party men have arranged books from their contacts from neighbouring states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
