Cab driver robbed at gunpoint

CHANDIGARH:Two unidentified persons robbed a cab driver of his car and other belongings at gunpoint near Khuda Ali Sher here on Sunday night.

Two unidentified persons robbed a cab driver of his car and other belongings at gunpoint near Khuda Ali Sher here on Sunday night. The police are yet to make headway in the case.

According to the police, two unknown persons had booked an OLA cab after borrowing a mobile phone from someone at the Sector 43 bus stand. The cab was booked for Kaimbwala. Cab driver Puran Singh, a resident of Lalru, reached there to pick them up.

The police said while one of the accused sat on the seat next to the driver, the other one sat on the rear seat.

On the way, the accused asked the victim to stop the car to answer the nature’s call. At the same time, the miscreant sitting on the rear seat pulled out a pistol and threatened the victim.

The victim was then made to sit on the rear seat. After driving for a few kilometres, he was dropped in the forest area in Kansal. The accused then fled from the spot after robbing the Ritz car, two mobile phones, Rs 1,500 and one earring.

DSP (Central) Ram Gopal said an investigation had been initiated. — TNS
