CBI files chargesheet against four in graft case

CHANDIGARH: The CBI has filed a chargesheet in the Rs 1.50 lakh bribery case involving an IMTECH scientist and a Gurugram-based businessman and two others.

The CBI has filed a chargesheet in the Rs 1.50 lakh bribery case involving an IMTECH scientist and a Gurugram-based businessman and two others. The four accused have been booked under Sections 7, 12, 13 (1) (D), 13 (2) the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 120-B of the IPC.

The 200-page chargesheet includes a total of 45 witnesses that includes an official of the Home Ministry who had permitted the CBI to tap phones of the accused. Swaraj Kandoi is the director of a Gurugram-based company and had allegedly sent the bribe money to be delivered to IMTECH scientist Sanjay Pandey, who was also arrested. The other two accused are IMTECH technician Chandra Prakash Midda and Dinesh Kumar.

On October 10, CBI had laid a trap and arrested Pandey, Midda and Dinesh Kumar. The CBI had obtained the Home Ministry’s permission to tap their calls beforehand. Later, Kandoi was also arrested by the CBI.

Dinesh Kumar has applied for bail and the CBI has been issued notice for December 12. Dinesh has claimed, in the application that he was falsely implicated in the case. He also stated that it is almost two months that he has been in custody and no recovery or interrogation has to be done now.
