Chahat swims to new national record

Chandigarh, October 14

Chahat Arora of MCM College, Sector 36, while representing Punjab created a new national record by winning the 100m breaststroke meet in the 71st Glenmark Senior National Aquatic Championships, held in Bhopal. 

She grabbed gold medals with new record timing of 1:15.19s. The previous best timing in her category was 1:16.25s which was set by Jayaveena AV in 2015. 

The 20-year-old swimmer won the gold medal in the 4X100m relay race in the 9th Asian Age Group Championship recently held in Uzbekistan. She had won a gold medal and a bronze medal in last year's SAFF Games as well. She had also won four gold medals in the South Asian Aquatics Championships in Sri Lanka last year. She has 15 medals in the national games to her kitty. — TNS
