A local court framed charges against FOSWAC president BS Bittu and four others in an assault case.

On November 4 last year, days before elections of Resident Welfare Association-Sector 21, 82-year-old PC Sanghi was allegedly assaulted by five persons. Sanghi is two-time FOSWAC president and former councillor.

Bittu, Navdeep Kohli, AS Bhatia, Pardeep Chopra and Sandeep Bhalla were booked on Sanghi’s complaint. The charges have been framed under Sections 147, 149, 323, 341 and 506 of the IPC.

The next date of hearing in the case is July 27.

According to Sanghi’s complaint, he, along with Aman Mittal, had gone to the residence of JS Toor, who was the returning officer for the RWA elections. The accused, who were outside his house, started threatening him in case he entered the house. Sanghi was then allegedly assaulted. — TNS
