City golfer Chinmaya Mahajan carded a total 17-over 301 to finish third in the Telangana Junior Boys Golf Championship, which concluded at Hyderabad Golf Club on Friday. Mahajan, a student of Vivek High School, Sector 38, was languishing at the 18th place after the opening day of the championship with nine-over. He, however, made consistent improvement in his game to finish in the top three. On the final day, he managed a par-71 to end five strokes behind Delhi’s Harshjeet Singh Sethie. Kartik Sharma of West Bengal finished at the top with a total of 289.
St. Joseph’s enter cricket final
St. Joseph’s School defeated Warriors XI by two wickets to reach the Sub Junior Challenger Cup Cricket Tournament final on Saturday. Batting first, Warriors scored a challenging 182 in 25 overs with Lovish (49) and Tushar Aggarwal (21) making vital contributions to the total. Kavya Chandroker claimed 3/19, while Sumit Kumar (2/29) and Dheeraj (2/19) bagged two wickets each for the bowling side. In reply, St Joseph’s rode on Aksh Rana’s 66-run unbeaten knock to overhaul the target with two wickets to spare. Ishan Gabba scored 25 runs, while Ranvijay made 23 runs. Ishan Kaushik was the most successful bowler for Warriors, claiming 2/26.
Bhavya helps Warriors win
Bhavya Kapoor scored 44 runs before claiming a four-for to help SSCA Warriors beat SSCA Challengers by 78 runs in the NWCA Intra Academy U-13 Championship at St. Soldier School in Panchkula. Batting first, Warriors managed only 129 runs in 29.2 overs, with Kapoor being the top scorer for the side. Udhav Jindal was the pick of the bowlers for Challengers, claiming 4/14. Aditaya Bhatnagar bagged 3/18. Needing just 130 runs for victory, Challengers slumped to 51 all out as Kapoor returned with figures of 4/11. He was ably supported by Tanmay (2/15) and Aman Jha (2/15).
