The 31st annual Chrysanthemum Show concluded with the prize distribution function and cultural shows at the Terraced Garden in Sector 33 here today.

Jitender Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, was the chief guest today. He gave away prizes to the winners of various events organised during the show in the presence of Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Senior Deputy Mayor and area councillor; NP Sharma, Superintending Engineer (B&R); and Krishan Pal Singh, Executive Engineer, Horticulture, MC.

During the function, the Commissioner also gave away “Swachh Awards” to the winners under various categories. The Swachhatam Ward 1st position award was received by Rajesh Kumar Gupta for Ward No. 16, Devinder Singh Babla, area councillor for Ward No. 18, received the 2nd position award and Raj Bala Malik, area councillor for Ward No. 2, received the third position award.

During the programme, the Commissioner appealed to the citizens of Chandigarh to join hands with the Municipal Corporation in this mega exam to make their city No. 1 in the Swachh Survekshan-2018 and keep the city neat clean.

The MC also displayed a stall in the Terraced Garden under “Swachh Bharat Mission” to create awareness among the masses regarding segregation of waste at source and to download Swachhta MoHUA app.

The chief guest went around the garden along with NP Sharma, Superintending Engineer (B&R). The chief guest applauded the efforts of the MC officials for organising such a beautiful show.

He said it was a great show, keep it up and make Chandigarh No. 1 in India in the every field. Gardeners of the Horticulture Department, MC, have made boat, camel, peacock, cow, giraffe, lion and many other animals and birds using flowers. About 266 varieties of Chrysanthemum were displayed at the show. Beautiful display of chrysanthemum in the show had helped Chandigarh in acquiring international fame.

Police Hospital 3rd in Swachh Ranking

The Police Hospital, Sector 26, Chandigarh, has been adjudged third in the Swachh Ranking - 2017 and a well deserved recipient of ‘Certificate’ and ‘Swachh Trophy’. This Swachh Dispensary Contest was organised by the Municipal Corporation (MC) by conducting survey of schools, hospitals, hotels, market welfare associations and MCC wards for Swachh Ranking 2017. The award was given by Jitender Yadav, Commissioner, MC, Chandigarh, and was received by Dr Pushpinder Mangat, SMO, Police Hospital, Sector 26, Chandigarh, during the 31st Chrysanthemum Show at the Terraced Garden in Sector 33 on Sunday.
