Annoyed over the Congress’ propaganda of a white paper on the drug situation in the state, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary and MP Prem Singh Chandumajra said today that they would soon be coming out with a white paper on various development works being carried out during the SAD-BJP regime during their 10-year tenure from 2007 to 2017.

He said the Congress government had made so many promises but they have failed to initiate even a single work even after two months which speaks about its incompetence.

He said they were simply getting involved in a blame game to shift the focus of people since they themselves have failed to deliver.

Chandumajra said the Congress-led state government had promised to wave off debts of farmers without any proper planning and claiming that the SAD-BJP was responsible for the fiscal mess in the state but they had forgotten that the previous government had carried out so much development in the state that they have changed its complete outlook.

As many as 60 farmers have lost their life in the past two months due to debts and Capt Amarinder Singh’s plan of waving off the debts continues to be a distant dream.

“Not repaying loans by farmers will certainly have a bad affect on the state economy as banks will be forced to default on loans as a result of which NABARD will stop releasing funds for Punjab,”

he said.

Moreover, Punjab has become the most lawless state in the country in the past two months as Amarinder has failed to tame his men throughout the state. The delegation of the SAD will soon be meeting Punjab Governor in this regard and bring the matter to his notice,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chandumajra said Amarinder had met the Niti Ayog and sought a special incentive package for border areas along Pakistan, which is appreciable but the Chief Minister has not put Punjab interest on the fore. He should have also raised the demand for a similar package for areas which share border with Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the tax benefit for the adjoining state have rather became a threat for the state industry which had suffered a lot and it was the need for the hour to revive these manufacturing units.

Demanding special package for areas that are situated 40 km from the border by the Niti Ayog, Chandumajra said the Chief Minister should keep Punjab’s interest on the forefront.

He said the Congress had stalled all development works that were going on across the state. Moreover, they have also discontinued various welfare schemes and the Atta-Dal scheme too that had come as a major setback for poor.
