Patiala, June 15

To further improve first aid training programme and involve more people in such trainings, the Society for People's Welfare and Awareness Patiala (SPWAP), a Patiala-based NGO, has demanded from the state government to construct a state-of-the-art first aid training centre in Patiala.

According to NGO president DS Bhullar, the Red Cross District branch, Patiala, has bagged first position in the first aid training and third position in home nursing training in the state this year despite the fact that the Red Cross building being used for first aid training and the working conditions are not good.

The Red Cross building is in a dilapidated state with no proper sitting place for trainees and poor air conditioning and drinking water facilities. During the monthly meeting of the NGO, it was decided to send a memorandum to the Punjab Chief Minister through the Patiala Deputy Commissioner with a demand for construction of a state-of-the-art first aid training centre under the Indian Red Cross Society, Patiala branch.
