Dengue claims life of 18-yr-old Panchkula boy

CHANDIGARH: A day after an 18-year-old boy from Panchkula died of dengue, the UT anti-malaria officer, Dr Gaurav Aggarwal, today sent a communique to the PGI and the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, asking them to share the details of patients from other states who succumb to dengue.

A day after an 18-year-old boy from Panchkula died of dengue, the UT anti-malaria officer, Dr Gaurav Aggarwal, today sent a communique to the PGI and the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, asking them to share the details of patients from other states who succumb to dengue.

“The death due to dengue or any other disease spreads panic,” said Dr Aggarwal, adding that for better coordination, the hospitals should share the details of the deaths with the UT Heath Department.

“If the record of the patient is shared with us, we will be in a position to inform the respective state authorities so that timely remedial measures can be initiated,” said Dr Aggarwal.

Sanjiv Trehan, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), said, “We have not received any information from the UT authorities. However, area residents informed us about the death and the breeding of mosquitoes in flower pots. We have carried out fogging and fumigation in the area.”

The deceased has been identified as Rahul, a resident of Sector 19, Panchkula. He was was suffering from high fever for the past few days. Rahul was rushed to the GMCH where he was found suffering from dengue.

The family of the deceased said Rahul’s platelet count dropped on Thursday and his condition deteriorated. He was declared dead last evening. Rahul’s body was taken to his native village today for cremation.
